A title deed in Dubai is the certificate of an entry in the Dubai Land Department’s Real Property Register. When something on the deed is wrong a misspelt name, an outdated passport reference, an incorrect property detail the fix is never made to the paper. The register entry is amended, and a corrected electronic deed is issued from the amended record. That is the whole discipline of this subject: correct the record, and the certificate follows.

The register works to an exacting standard. Your recorded name must match your passport character for character middle names, initials, transliteration choices included. A deed that is one character out is not a cosmetic problem: it is the single most common reason property transactions trip at the trustee centre, because every downstream check compares the deed against your identity documents.

The three families of correction

Name corrections. Misspellings, transliteration variants, names changed by marriage or naturalisation, and deeds issued against an old passport’s rendering of your name. The most common family, and the one with the strictest matching rules.
Identity document updates. A renewed passport with a new number, a changed nationality, an Emirates ID issued since the deed. The register’s reference document is updated so the record points at who you are now.
Property detail corrections. Errors in how the register describes the property itself unit or plot data, are figures, property type. Less common, resolved against the DLD’s own records and plans.

What a correction never does

A correction changes how the register describes you or the property never who owns it. If the change you need is a change of owner a sale, a gift, an inheritance that is a transfer or succession registration, a different procedure entirely. Corrections carry no ownership consequence, which is why they are administratively clean once the evidence is right.
